About 6 years ago I totally changed career paths and went from hard core science, to the arts. I started off my crafty career by designing and creating teddy bears. It wasn't until after my daughter was born in 2005 that I started scrapbooking, and shortly thereafter, card-making. I love pretty much all things crafty, but these days I mostly do paper crafting. This is in part due to the fact that I packed up my entire sewing studio in the fall, in preparation for selling our house. Our house didn't sell, but my sewing stuff is still mostly packed away, except for a few odds and ends, including some yummy Amy Butler fabric I've been hanging onto for a couple of years. Anyway. today's project combines both crafts - sewing and design, with scrappy/stampy stuff. We're going away on vacation soon, so I decided to make a cute passport holder using my beloved Amy Butler fabric. As I said, a lot of my stuff is packed away, including my pins, couple that with our iron being broken, and I had to make do with eyeballing and pinching a lot - so it's not perfect. I can't really give you a pattern, because I made this up as I went along, but it's approximately 10 inches long by 6 inches wide. It was surprised and happy to learn that my Stampin' Up! guillotine paper trimmer actually cuts fabric - making my life way easier! I also used my Stampin' Up! Top Note die to die cut a panel on the inside to make a window pocket. To add a litle fin and whimsy to the project, I used one of my new most favourite and amazing stamps - a Ketto stamp by Stamping bella - these are incredible!! She fit perfectly inside one of the large dots. I stamped her in Stazon, but you could you craft ink too. I wont likely be washing this, so I wasn't too worried. I made a little felt pocket on the inside, but it looked a little plain. So, I stamped another dot, then die cut it with a circle nestability die. I cut a second pinked circle in pink felt, then sewed them together using a zigzag stitch. I also picked up some adorable rub-ons by Prima at Stamping Bella this week, so added a couple of those over the window panel. The ribbon tie is American Crafts. Hope you like this project - I know I will enjoy using this!
