The first production of motorcycle was developed by Willam Harley and Arthur Davidson last 1903 which resulted to Harley-Davidson. The motorbike was to be a racing bike, and was built in a small shed wooden with the words Harley-Davidson Motor Company written on the front door. When Harley-Davidson won the very first race last 1905, they hired their first employee. After 3 years, they sold to the Detroit Police department their first motorcycles which has been used as a police service. They became profitable that they are able to construct a 6 story factory building and started to export their motorcycles to the Japan.
H-D became more popular in 1914 and was labeled as “The Wrecking Crew” when formally started the national racing circuit. Harley-Davidson then started to sell their motorcycles to the Military in 1917.
In 1918, half of the bikes were shipped to Germany and became the military service in World War. It was Corporal Roy Holts, the first soldier that used the H-D motorcycle. 1920 marks the year that the motorcycle company is the biggest in the world in the motorcycle industry, and has over 2,000 dealers in 67 countries worldwide.
Except for the Indian Motorcyle Company, most of the competitors of Harley-Davidson got lost. Harley-Davidson and Indian are the only two motorcycle companies in America, until 1953.
For the reason that world goes in into World War 2, so does Harley return into Military motorcycle creation, and the service school is turned back to the military motorcycle service school, also known as the Quartermaster School for military mechanics. The Harley-Davidson Motorcycle were not really reached out by the public during this time.
